Deriving Distributivity from Discourse
This paper discusses the structure that incorporates information from discourse to derive distributivity. Following a proposal by López (2009) to account for the interpretation shown in the canonical focus structure using the notion “contrast”, I suggest that the feature “contrast” assigned to the edge of CP results in distributivity to the extent that distributivity occurs if and only if predi...

15 صفحه اولnew semigroup compactifications via the enveloping semigroups of associated flows
this thesis deals with the construction of some function algebras whose corresponding semigroup compactification are universal with respect to some properies of their enveloping semigroups. the special properties are of beigan a left zero, a left simple, a group, an inflation of the right zero, and an inflation of the rectangular band.
Comparing methods for deriving intensity scores for adjectives
We compare several different corpusbased and lexicon-based methods for the scalar ordering of adjectives. Among them, we examine for the first time a lowresource approach based on distinctivecollexeme analysis that just requires a small predefined set of adverbial modifiers. While previous work on adjective intensity mostly assumes one single scale for all adjectives, we group adjectives into d...
Weak Distributivity implying Distributivity
Let B be a complete Boolean algebra. We show that if λ is an infinite cardinal and B is weakly (λ, ω)-distributive, then B is (λ, 2)-distributive. Using a similar argument, we show that if κ is a weakly compact cardinal such that B is weakly (2, κ)distributive and B is (α, 2)-distributive for each α < κ, then B is (κ, 2)-distributive.
